Special Needs

Our tradition helps us understand how important it is for each person to live a meaningful life, despite personal and physical challenges.  In this spirit, Federation provides caring, safe and meaningful living environments for people with disabilities, and enables them to live lives of dignity and respect and opportunities to participate in Jewish life.

Federation supports a variety of opportunities that make this possible, including:

  • Family support groups
  • Group homes in Maryland and Northern Virginia that support residents with mental illness, deafness, or physical and developmental disabilities
  • Supervised independent living arrangements
  • Transition services for young adults with developmental disabilities
  • Summer camp
  • Teen programming
  • Educational seminars for caregivers
  • Case management, including vocational help
  • Counseling

To maximize the effectiveness of these services, Federation draws on the support of a team of social service organizations including:

Your Federation donation extends across our partnerships so we can make a meaningful difference in the lives those who face overwhelming personal challenges.

Federation supports similar projects in Israel and around the world. For more information about the work your money supports abroad, click here.
