Description: The Washington DCJCC is looking for a Director of its Summer Day Camp who will also serve as the year-round Assistant Director for Youth and Family Programs. This person should be energetic, creative and organized to be able to plan the summer camps for campers aged 4-17 and year-round programs for children in elementary school. o As Director for the Summer Day Camp: Program, budget, market (online, in print --including the brochure and in person), hire/train/supervise staff, registration (except for processing payments), pursue American Camp Association (ACA) Accreditation, attend conferences and trainings as needed, participate in professional associations. o For the Youth Programs: Program, budget, market, hire/train/supervise staff and registration (except for processing payments) for the school-year programs for elementary-age children: Winter Fun Days, No School Today, Snow Days and afterschool programs (e.g. J Kids Swim Team). o For the Family Programs: Work with the Preschool staff to plan special community-wide events (e.g. Chanukah and Purim parties); Coordinate Take Me to the J Sunday programming; and Run the Birthday Party program Education requirement: undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (education, camp administration or related area of study preferred). Prior camp experience (as a director, assistant director, counselor or unit head) preferred. Start date: August 2010 We offer full benefits, including health and dental insurance, 401K, flex spending and a free 16th Street J Fitness Center Membership. We do not provide relocation expenses. Salary commensurate with experience. This position reports to the Director of Early Childhood, Youth and Family Programs. Additional training will be provided.
