Description: 

This full-time position is responsible for: managing and supporting the gift processing and acknowledgement process of the entire Agency, working with the Chief Executive Officer and Development Office to manage Board communications and meetings.  In addition the Development Associate will facilitate direct mail and special events while also supporting the functions of the Chief Executive Office of the Washington DCJCC. The position requires approximately 30 hours per week reporting to the Development Office and 10 hours per week reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. All responsibilities require ongoing knowledge of activities and programs throughout the organization, exemplary written and oral communications skills, an exceptionally high level of attention to detail and the establishment of productive relationships with staff, Board members and potential and current donors.

As a member of a four person Development Office they will report to Chief Development Officer and work closely with the other members of the department, the Chief Executive Officer, board members and programming staff on fundraising activities, committees and events at the Center.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Manage gift entry and acknowledgement processes
2. Enter data for all donations and process all acknowledgments for donations
3. Manage demographic information for Development database and online giving
4. Maintain Board communications and materials for Board and committee meetings
5. Facilitate direct mail and solicitation campaigns
6. Provide support for Grant and Report writing
7. Support fundraising, Board and cultivation events, including mailings, RSVPs, materials and event staffing
8. Provide administrative support for the Development Officer and the Chief Executive Officer

Desired Education Degree/Level: Bachelor's
Jewish Education: - Knowledge of the Jewish community
Prior Experience: - 1-3 years of non profit experience preferably in Development
Other: - Good organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to multi-task. - Excellent interpersonal skills and exemplary written and oral communications skills - An exceptionally high level of attention to detail - The ability to establish productive relationships with staff, board and potential and current donors - Knowledge of the Jewish community - Specific computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc); some experience with database programs and Crystal Reports preferred.
