Description: Olney Kehila is a vibrant, independent, inclusive Jewish congregation in Olney, Maryland, whose mission is to provide a religious school and a strong and supportive community that celebrates Jewish traditions, customs and culture. Olney Kehila’s religious school meets on Sunday mornings from September to June and the subjects covered include the meaning of Jewish customs and traditions, traditional Jewish prayers, and the history of the Jewish people. Students range from Kindergarten through Seventh Grade. Olney Kehila also has a strong B’nai Mitzvah program led by Spiritual Leader Holly Shere. Olney Kehila seeks an individual with at least 3 years of experience in Judaic teaching and/or education administration to serve as the Education Director for its religious school. Responsibilities include managing the existing curriculum, developing and implementing curriculum improvements, supervising and supporting the religious school staff, planning school-wide events, and administrative functions such as ordering books. The Education Director works closely with the Education Committee of the Olney Kehila Board of Directors and the Spiritual Leader of the community. The Education Director may also serve as a teacher at the religious school.
